About 10 years ago in "Heartbeat" the estate manager drove a 1954 Riley RME one & a half litre..reg. no. POF 327.It was black & in good condition.I used to own this car in the late 60's in Brum & would love to see a photo or clip.It was in the show for about 2 or 3 episodes. Anyone have any info etc.? @ronnie boy - POF 327 exported in 2005 according to DVLA - details are: Date of Liability 01 12 2005 Date of First Registration 17 07 1954 Year of Manufacture 1954 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1496cc CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type PETROL Export Marker Y Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour BLACK Vehicle Type Approval Not Available. POF 327 exported? I always hoped to be able to own this car again one day.If it's been exported then I've virtually no hope of ever finding it again.Mind you IF it's been exported to Belgium where I now live I may see it at a classic car show one day...even without the English no. plates I'd still recognise it! |

Have done a deep trawl on ep 13.23 because HartyBeats efforts showed it had a lot of interesting stuff which deserved full captures. Plot is a bit contrived about a local "motor race" which is actually a hillclimb with a fairly random assortment of racers. Not sure where filmed or if a genuine course, but doesn't look like Harewood House (near Leeds, was used in 1970s RAC rallies as a special stage) or nearby Harewood Hillclimb course. One reject bike early in the ep - not clearly seen, and I couldn't link it to anything else in the ep, but might be in other eps as it's in the village garage ![]() |

@Hartybeats: Word on your shell-like, I'm currently covering Heartbeat chronologically and I'm currently at season 2. It would be more beneficial if you were to concentrate on later episodes so that you may work as an advance-party of sorts rather than directly interfere with my progress. As you seem to add vehicles without having much of an idea of what they are, whereas I know exactly what most of them are and where to put them. It would certainly be more effective to work as a team if we are to complete this page in the closest foreseeable future. |

@Hartybeats: issuing a formal temporary picture uploading lockout for now as you kept trying to add the same A35 (was it the sixth time now?) from 2.01 that was already rejected for being too background. |
◊ 2023-09-23 17:00 |
If you had submitted a comment like this highlighting the make and model of the car, which is all I wanted to know, and explaining the reason for rejection, I would not have kept resubmitting the image. Now I know the make and model of the car, I will not resubmit the image, so please reinstate my ability to add new vehicles with immediate effect. If you are so willing to post some pictures, put it here for comments pending with these administrator's whim. |
◊ 2023-09-23 18:47 |
Usually, when other members don't know why something happens, they post a comment to ask. As you were already told several times that similar background vehicles or identical vehicles are regrouped, you could also have guessed that the car was listed elsewhere in the comments... |
◊ 2023-09-24 15:07 |
And if I refuse? We're not going to lift the lockout immediately just because you say 'I won't do it again', you know. Furthermore, you just admitted that you did it deliberately, which is far more serious than adding it again because you didn't think you had added it. You were told previously not to resubmit rejected vehicles, if we were to explain why entries were deleted all the time the validation progress would take ages. Most users are okay with their too-background submissions being deleted, and if not, they post them as thumbnails or ask why it was deleted and/or give a reasoning for submitting it. What they don't do is to add an entry 5 or 6 times in hopes of getting it validated eventually. Check the guidelines for posting background cars if you have time. |
◊ 2023-09-24 20:50 |
@Lateef: You submitted a comment confirming the make and model of the car you repeatedly rejected, but you only submitted that comment after you imposed "a formal temporary picture uploading lockout" to me. You asked for us to work as a team, but to work as a team you must play your part. I contribute to IMCDB only to identify details of vehicles that have appeared onscreen in episodes of Heartbeat. Once the details of vehicles have been correctly identified, since I record those details in my own records, I would be ambivalent if IMCDB subsequently chose to delete submitted images. If you had confirmed in some way at the very outset the make and model of the car you repeatedly rejected, I would not have repeatedly resubmitted the image requesting the vehicle identification details you eventually provided and you would not have seen fit to impose the "formal temporary picture uploading lockout" to me. If you are committed to making the team you have asked we have work well, then please help me succeed and not fail. If I submit an image you choose to reject and you know the details of the vehicle, I am asking you to please notify me of the vehicle's details in some way. There are numerous ways you could do this, which include submitting a general comment to the movie confirming the vehicle's details or preferably completing the fields of the submitted vehicle with an additional advisory message not to validate the vehicle. I have seen other administrators do the latter, which generally gives me enough time to record the vehicle's details in my own records, after which I would be ambivalent if IMCDB subsequently chose to delete my submitted images. I submit hardly any vehicles that get rejected, so you should only need to do what I am asking you to do on very seldom occasions. What I am asking you to do is simple, quick, straightforward, entirely reasonable and I am sure well within your capability. |
◊ 2023-09-24 21:01 |
It doesn't make any difference whether or not I identified the car before or after, it was clearly too background and that is reason enough to delete it. |
◊ 2023-09-24 21:19 |
For the first part, submitting the car in the series' main page comments would have ensured a proper identification without the " need " to submit it something like 6 times . For the second part .. i don't remember any message from the Big Boss telling us that you're authorized to give orders to the admins already in place for years.. -- Last edit: 2023-09-24 21:24:46 |
◊ 2023-09-24 22:43 |
@HartyBeats - to explain a process point which is probably hidden from view for non admins - most or even all those advisory messages were probably mine. We have 2 levels of admin below Antp (aka "Sir Admin") at the top of the tree. There's a select team of validating admins who ... um ... validate (or reject) submissions, depending on suitability. They also try to confirm the IDs as much as possible within that task. There are also non-validating admins like me who can't validate stuff, but the subtle twist is that we non-validators can edit IDs and advise on submissions awaiting validation. This is primarily to help validators in their decisions what to do with the submissions - they can accept or reject the comments as appropriate. I'm (genuinely) glad you were able to use this interim window as well, but it's a matter of chance how long it lasts between whenever I or (any other non validator) edits the headers/adds comments and then a validator arrives to do their magic. And they will have no idea when they do the magic if the headers were done 5 minutes ago or a day ago, so the duration of the window is entirely in the lap of the gods. And as you've probably discovered, the space in the info box is fairly short so limits any message to a staccato shorthand. However in terms of the site's processes, it gives a 2-stage procedure if/when both steps occur. And just in case you haven't sussed out another useful facility, below the main page gallery of pictures is a header and entry with Comments about this movie See all comments about this movie and its vehicles If you go into that, it may help you track what's happened to some at least of your submissions more easily. |
◊ 2023-09-24 22:54 |
I reiterate, if I submit an image you choose to reject and you know the details of the vehicle, I am asking you to please notify me of the vehicle's details in some way. There are numerous ways you could do this, which include submitting a general comment to the movie confirming the vehicle's details or preferably completing the fields of the submitted vehicle with an additional advisory message not to validate the vehicle. 1964 Ford publicity picture of a GT with all the trophies they won before switching to Lotus Cortinas. According to a book caption, the car was probably 553 UOO, a fully prepared Lincoln Cars-built 1963 GT used as one of Boreham's test/practice hacks and for PR demonstrations. At that point, before the proper Boreham Competition Dept opened in Essex, works Fords were built at the Lincoln Cars depot on the Great West Rd in Brentford, SW London. |

Try to post everything in one comment, and if you have more to say and you haven't received a reply yet, you can always edit your comment. Also, remember dsl's comment, just make a quick search in the comments (ctrl + f), or change the page listing by episode. |
