Appears NOT to be the same, completely different colours |

so we should have about 150 entries of the same police cars on police shows because they are same model, same year range but different colors/unit numbers ? nothing is wrong in regrouping them if their only difference is the color , especially on show that have a long lifespan and where we can find hundreds of vehicles already |

They're both Apple Green (I think that was the official name) and both pictures have similar odd rust patch on the grille top, so probably same actual car. |

Ford 103E Popular colours available were: Lichfield Green, 1953-4 Canterbury Green, 1957 Ludlow Green, 1958-9. Also: Black, 1953-59 Winchester Blue, 1953-57 Norwich Blue, 1953-54 Bristol Fawn, 1957 Richmond Blue, 1958-59 Newark Grey, 1958-59 Dorchester Grey 1955-56 No fruit related colour mentioned. I have also checked the 100E colours, again nothing fruity there. Note: 1947 Anglia colours, Black, White(!) Pastel Green, Pastel Fawn. (Source: Ford Popular and the small sidevalves, Dave Turner, Osprey 1984) Both the subject vehicle, and the thumbs, are fitted with the same non-standard, (Austin I think) sidelights on the wings, and the headlamps' chrome? bezels look unlike those normally found on a Popular. It seems very unlikely that more than one example would exhibit such quirks. -- Last edit: 2023-08-29 11:30:33 |

Agreed Lichfield Green for this one - Corgi used it for three 1990s Anglia/Popular models.![]() Apple green was name of similar shade on 1960-ish Rootes-jewels (Minx, Husky etc). |
