![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This travelogue was made by Norman E. Schley, who made a series of films titled “Schley Rides". This particular film takes the viewer on a breathtaking journey around pre-revolutionary, and pre-U.S. embargo, Havana, Cuba. Please note that the film is silent, but would have originally been presented at screenings with live narration by Norman Schley himself. The film is presented in 4 parts. Part 1: Scenes from Havana, Cuba https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoMKz4eN7ro&t=1551s Part 2: Hotel Varadero International, Agave farm, Sugar cane fields, other view of Havana https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoMKz4eN7ro&t=1551s (following Part 1 in the same film) Part 3: The footage is predominantly taken in and around rural Southern Cuba in places like perhaps Isla de Pinos (now Isla de Juventud). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCosZiU1e9M Part 4: Scenes from Havana also seen in Part 1, with with several bonuses https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reXSGQQLqRU&t=16s |

Those from Havana were operated by HER-Havana Electric Railway Co. Fitted with double pole for 2 cables catenary. This one has a single pole, therefore it must belong to Santiago de Cuba network, also operated by HER since 1926 (purchased Compañía Eléctrica de Santiago). These tramways services closed in 1952. Therfore the film should be from 1952 not 1953. |
