"The master of the steering wheel is escaping"! Too literally? Już o tym pisałem gdzieś tutaj, że Robocopa chcieli u nas nazwać "Policyjnym gliniarzem" - jak widzisz mogło być gorzej. -- Last edit: 2008-12-29 22:44:18 |

As I recall with mine there was a bit of a knack required to get it off the line quickly.Tried flooring it from a standing start once and it just sat there spinning the back wheels & making smoke!.Came in handy when I was being harassed by some kid in a Ford Fiesta 1.8 turbo though (kids car shows how long ago this was!).Two lanes and four sets of traffic lights in a row in town & we're side by side.1st set of lights go green & all you could hear was his engine revving & his pissy little front tyres squeeling.I ignored it & rolled up to the next set of lights.2nd set go green, same again, once again I ignore it.3rd set of lights & I floor it with the result of very little forward motion, plenty of smoke & even more noise. At the 4th set strangely enough He pulled away very slowly.Bit silly really biting like that but I was 21 with a 6.6 litre trans am & it was fun humiliating His pissy little car!. I eventually found that it shifted best if You let it start to roll then steadily floored it (And Boy could it shift!) |

Said to be one of Alfred Hitchcock's favorite films to personally watch, believe it or not...it supposedly made him laugh out loud. |

hey thebandit77transam,i dont know where you got your figures for the 0-60 times but you better double them, the car only had 180 HP back then, try around 8.5 seconds,my 76 LE 455 4 speed was 6.2 seconds at the track, that was with a motor with more HP.i also found some other info on a web sight about the cars in the movie, this is copied and pasted ...........However, production delays resulted in the movie being shot with a '77 model - and by then, major changes had taken place. The 455 was gone, replaced by a new "T/A 6.6-liter" 400 that offered about the same horsepower but nowhere near the street cred of the big bruiser. (Many scenes in the movie were done with a 455-equipped car that had been modified to "bark the tires" on a hard one-two upshift in a way the standard car just couldn't manage.) The '77s also marked the debut of a significant body restyle that included a new quad-headlight front end, flat hood, and smaller, less belligerent-looking hood scoop. ...............if you want to see it yourself go google "60'times '76 trans am".the article was from businessweek |

yes, my bad. it wasn't 4.5 it was 5.0 seconds. sorry for that. I remeber it being able to hit 145 though. Either way, if its a Trans Am (in my opinion), its cool. Plus, its a V8, and V8's ROCK. |
◊ 2010-04-01 02:35 |
umm, i replied to someone else saying the same thing. I said my bad, i said 4.5 seconds, it's really 5 seconds i was off a bit. but i do remember it being able to hit 145, not 130. I love the Trans Am, its my favorite car... god bless Smokey and the Bandit. |

Also, theres supposed to be a Volkswagen Beetle in here. You can clearly see it on the highway "East Bound and Down" chase scene. |
◊ 2011-01-27 06:14 |
In the scene just right before that one cop tells Buford that he can't drive that POS on the highway you see a 1975-77 Ford LTD getting towed, also during that scene you see a 1974-77 Ford Mustang II turning in the background |

I just got the Special Edition of this movie, remastered with 5.1 surround, The Making Of, etc..... I might replace some of the old grainy pics with better ones if requested, and add some new ones if I find any. |
◊ 2011-09-04 07:49 |
to Trucker: the trans am wasnt that fast even though it had the 6.6L/405ci big block v8 it only had about 225 hp from the factory, but it sounds amazing |
◊ 2012-04-21 00:55 |
about 85MPH that's all trucks really did back then, it was said in the movie that one of them, I believe the '73, would do 96MPH, not sure if the truck would really do it or they did some messing around to make it look like it would do 96MPH |

Today I went to a local weekly car show hoping somebody there had a black 1977 or 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. I know of some people there who had one or two. The closest thing I saw to it was a rare 1980 Trans Am Fire Am. |

They was an white AMC Matador sedan (1974-1977), in the background, right after the Lemans' roof came off. It was park on the side of the road, near the trees. I known it's to far off, but I just to point it out, and maybe somebody posted an pic of it? maybe an close-up of it? -- Last edit: 2021-06-02 09:27:58 |
