This tv-series was actually British and all actors speak english. Series was filmed in Amsterdam and main events take place on a local police station. The name is indeed very Dutch or what do you think garco ? |

Wasn't there a car driving into a harbour/canal in the opening credits of the 80s/90s shows? I seem to remember it being an Opel Rekord. |

Van der Valk is very Dutch, in Holland it's also a big Hostel and Restaurant company. Maybe you have seen the 'Toekan' (which is their trademark)... http://www.valk.com/home.aspx |

The series was based - rather loosely - on the novels of a British writer, Nicolas Freeling, who died recently. He had spent many years in the Netherlands and France. After he killed off van der Valk he wrote a great many novels featuring a French detective, Henri Castang. Although I may not be qualified to comment, I think he captured the feeling both of the Netherlands and of France extremely well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolas_Freeling -- Last edit: 2007-09-04 10:21:55 |
