Did anyone see what was the car the Chrysler hits? I saw it very briefly and it looked like a Ford Cortina (!). Many cars are indeed missing from this page. -- Last edit: 2007-11-03 23:14:04 |

I believe it was marketed in Canada. There's a mention on Wikipedia and here's some pics of Ford's 'Model C': http://www.pixelmatic.com.au/cortina/mk2pix/modelc.jpg http://www.lovefords.org/home/images/68/68_cortina.jpg -- Last edit: 2008-04-30 18:35:40 |

Also in the US? Play Misty for Me (1971) in California also featured a Cortina Mk.II and at least one other movie I think (but cannot remember)? /vehicle_132074-Ford-Cortina-1967.html edit: also Christine (1983) /vehicle_2131-Ford-Cortina-GT.html -- Last edit: 2008-04-30 20:39:19 |

The 'mystery jeep' is a 1952 M38 you can see in its current state here: http://www.internationalmovie.com/images/vehicles/jeeps/info-M38.jpg . The markings it's wearing in the photo are from the 2002 Steven Spielberg TV miniseries "Taken". We also have one of the GMC M135s from the movie. At the time the production borrowed (and painted) a number of GMC M135s from a Vancouver area Canadian Army Militia unit and bought either one or two from some logging outfit up north (i.e. the ones they planned on thrashing.) The vehicle which did the jump and burned was actually still in good shape when it landed and the fire was put out, and it went on to a collector in the U.S., I believe. As to the LTD IIs I believe they were all ex-RCMP vehicles bought locally at auction (Vancouver B.C.), but not sure about the Dodge stuff. Also, most people know the Morris Marina as the Austin Marina in North America. Horrible cars. ![]() |

For anyone who likes reading "the book behind the film", it was written by David Morell and was excellent - better than the film because the main character was not shoehorned into Stallone's ego. |
