you're sure it's self-propelled? doesn't seem any space for operator |

Operator walked in front of it, controlling by use of the handle. |

so it's not manned then if operator is outside -- Last edit: 2024-11-03 19:32:28 |

/vehicle_1480082-Lewis-Electruk-1954.html I’m not suggesting this as an answer, just illustrating another pedestrian controlled vehicle on the site. -- Last edit: 2024-11-04 08:54:44 |

I'm not sure the other one should be listed either, actually. It is too far from the "vehicle" definition we have on the site. What do others think? Move to comments? (and the other one too? I'd say yes) |

No argument from me. |

I'd be sorry to see them go - a quirky snapshot of 50s British eccentricities. With own pages, they stand a chance of being found while demoting to comments would make them disappear with barely a ripple. In terms of site practice, they are officially road vehicles, because the 1950s equivalent of DVLA required them to have number plates. This makes them a bit different from eg some of the primitive tractory things we occasionally stumble on in far-off countries which always live in fields and aren't really road traffic. And they're proper manufactured things with brand names, not home-made contraptions. |

50/50 for me. No doubt somewhere there is someone with a great interest in pedestrian controlled dustcarts. I remember seeing these in 60s and 70s always as dustcarts with street sweeping men. -- Last edit: 2024-11-07 14:28:08 |
