These trucks seem much newer than the other vehicles used |

50s GMC M211, the back is M135. Depends what year it set but surely too anachronistic. |

I don't remember the actual year ever being mentioned in the series (the Powderkeg movie does say 1915, if memory serves), but the dialog in a couple of episodes indicates the series takes place in the period before the US entered the WWI, so indeed, these two GMC trucks in the convoy are stupidly anachronistic (which probably explains why they are only shown in this far shot). |

This is an easy one! The series is most assuredly set in 1915 or 16. If you have seen the episode, you see this shot for just a few seconds. No closeups of the newer trucks are shown. The director just needed a line of trucks following the two period vehicles. If they were large and green, it would be good enough for the quick shot, what the director was looking for was a moving item. Remember, at the time, the largest TV sets in the U.S. were 31 or 35 inches measured diagonally. So, small background items would not be clear or be shown long. Remember too, they did not have the ability to pause or rewind the shot to check on background items. I have heard of other productions doing the same thing in the days before items could be digitally added by computer. I was watching another series from the same period, a western. Very far in the background of one shot was a large semi-truck and trailer going up a steep hiway hill. Without my 65" digital Sony and the ability to stop the frame, it never would have been seen. |

It's not a close-up, and I'm not arguing your point in the least, but even on a small screen the truck should be quite obvious in this scene. |
