I had the hardest time figuring out when this movie was supposed to be set. I thought for sure it was the early 40s (given the still-popular use of fedoras and suits at the time), but then mid-50s cars kept driving up. I wonder if they wanted it to be set in the 50s, or if they thought no one would notice. It definitely has a ver 40s feel to it other than that. |

In the movie, one character says "It's nearly 1946" |

Well, we should do something with this combo of "Fleetwood 60 Special" and "Series 60 Special" |

I think it starts right at the end of WWII, in 1945, and then slowly progresses up into the 50s, so by the time Michael comes back from Sicily it's 1954 or so. |

What's the third car sitting in Woltz's driveway? I see we've got the Caddy and the Cord, but not the other black car. |

I just found out that the infamous 'horse head in the bed' scene that's set in Los Angeles is actually filmed in the Falaise mansion in Long Island, New York. The "bedroom" is the two windows to the right of the front door. Another car that probably isn't listed here is just visible outside. |

there is a 1942 Lincoln Continental convertible in the film. You can see it through a window in the "Horse's head" scene, but look carefully- it's there. |

I've got three 1/18 scale models of the vehicles from the film: . Vito's 1940 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special (even though it's marked as 75 Special on the box) with a Vito Corleone figure. . Paulie's 1941 Packard Super Eight 180. . Barzini's 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood 60. -- Last edit: 2024-10-10 03:30:36 |
