The show was sponsored by Chevrolet during its first four seasons...

...and as its chief advertiser, you'll notice they also provided a vast majority of the cars. Their vehicles were always seen under the closing credits during those years, even when the show was rerun on Nick at Nite decades later and on the DVD releases. Even Chip's toy cars were Chevys (probably dealer promos).

In later years, as Chevrolet left and companies like Hunt-Wesson, General Mills and Toni Hair Products took over sponsorship, the car provider shifted to Pontiac.

I've completed the first two seasons, the only ones released so far on DVD, and a few isolated later episodes that are on Youtube.

Reminds me of the moment in Knowing Me Knowing Yule when Partridge's boss moans about his constant advertising of Rovers and at that exact moment is handed a present of a toy Rover by Santa Claus.

By the way, Fred MacMurray's character, Steve Douglas, is an aerospace engineer who often flies to air bases across the world. This means goodies for the aircraft guys. Ep. 2.20:

Look for Episode 9.18 - Chip gets an old car from his father; I remember it was some kind of late-20's coupe. His friend has a hot rod (probably a 30's Ford highboy) he calls the Road Burner.

I used to watch this show when I was little, and 40-odd years later this is the only episode I remember - wonder why?

I remember that episode too 62imp, my memory (which is fuzzy and could be all wrong) suggests it was something like a "Tall T" Model T, in fairly pristine condition at that time.

Seven years later :wow: - caught episode 9.18 on MeTV; the car Chip gets looks like a circa 1922 Dodge business coupe. The Roadburner is a somewhat scruffy '23 T-bucket with a shortened rear deck, powered by a nailhead Buick V8 with three two-barrel carbs.
