Ciudad Juarez? I've been there, just for half an hour. At my autodriveaway-trip around the USA 20 years ago, I've passed El Paso/TX, so I've decided "I want to set my feet on Mexican ground", so I went over the bridge for a short walk. For some US-girls I was more exotic than anything else - because of my green-covered passport (some years later the EU-passports became dark red), I've shown to the customs-officer. |

The film is about the Female Homicides that occurred in Ciudad Juarez from 1993 onwards. Since then, over 400 women and girls have been murdered and only some these have resulted in arrests and convictions: .Abdul Latif Sharif- Arrested in 1995 and convicted for three of the murders, case is currently appeal. .Victor Garcia Uribe and Gustavo Gonzalez Meza- Arrested in 2001 for eight of the murders, Meza died in police custody, while Uribe was convicted in 2004 for the eight, case again is under appeal on claims that the police tortured him for a confession. .Sergio Bazzara Bocanegra- Arrested in 2008 for the murder of 16-year-old Ruby Frayre Escobedo, acquitted for a lack of evidence and went on the run, the mother of the victim; Marisela Escobedo Ortiz was murdered in December 2010 by a unknown gunman on a motorcycle, the acquittal for Bocanegra was overturned. -- Last edit: 2015-06-28 09:35:03 |
