Not sure which cars they provided, but Matsubara Jidosha lists this series as one of the shows they provided vehicle(s) for: http://matsubara-j.jp/publics/index/19/

A couple of behind the scene photos from Wondervogel... Apparently a number of 70s classics got destroyed :(
Although considering Mr. Muto of Wondervogel said that he "repainted" them, I imagine they weren't in good condition to begin with... :/

Still sucks considering that some of them like the 73 Toyota Crown, where almost half a century old :(

Let's hope they took any usable parts off before smashing them

Not sure about usable parts but considering at least one of the Crowns destroyed look like a former donor car, and a few of them didn't even have the proper documents for roadworthiness, I think my initial suspicions were more or less proven right.

Seeing the state of the inside (seats, pillars, roof) it did not look as good as it looks from the outside, so I believe indeed that the cars were refreshed to look better on the outside.
Behind the scenes photos for that always give a second hit: first you are sad when watching the episode seeing a nice old car being destroyed. Then when you see three identical ones on the photo you guess they didn't destroy only one
Well at least these weren't in mint condition, despite being shiny and clean on screen
