Hey, didn't Timmy's dad drive a 1958 Dodge pickup?

...and Ranger Corey drove a Dodge pickup too all throughout the '60s.

Beginning sometime around the mid 1960s or so, a Chrysler corporation credit appeared in the closing credits. But the fact is, all of the big three U.S. automakers--actually six, if you throw in American Motors, International Harvester and Kaiser/Frazier--were very well represented all throughout this series.

I think I remember an episode from '71 where he got caught in earthquake debris, and Lassie had to rescue him.

Wow, I should have seen fireworks go off the day these pictures were uploaded! I can't believe it's taken me this long to locate this page! I know many episodes by vehicle make. For instance the doctor's car when Mr. Cully has a heart attack is a 1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Holiday Sedan. (I would guess the model to be 3739 but not sure.) Seriously, let's talk! :)

I really appreciate the pre-Timmy era, not because those episodes are the most popular and my genetic make-up always causes me to go against the grain, so it seems! The first 4 seasons were more realistic and not the picture of the perfect American family as portrayed in Leave It to Beaver and the Andy Griffith Show, and parodied in the recent film Pleasantville. In these episodes, the boy, named Jeff, was raised by a grandfather and a mother, who was widowed as a result of an army air corps training accident. The author of Lassie Come Home, Eric Knight, was killed also during World War II in a plane crash as an intelligence operative/cryptographer.

For future understanding. The TV series was known always as "Lassie" during the original airings. In syndication, in other words, "re-runs," the series is titled as follows: 1954-1958 "Jeff's Collie;" 1959-1973 "Lassie." It matters not to me which convention is used on IMCDB when listing all 19 seasons, or 591 episodes!!!

Actually at one time the 1958-64 episodes were syndicated as "Timmy and Lassie." That ended when "Lassie" ceased first run production.

Right, I have to date added 1% of the pictures included on this page. One other note, the Martin family 1958 Dodge can be seen in color in the episode "Escape to Danger" during which Lassie is attached to the Forest Service. The top of the truck is white and the lower half is a robin's egg or sky blue.

No, they used (a quite correct term) a plenty of them.
