I think, list would contain Goose's Kawasaki Z1000 (Toecutter and Bubba Zanetti uses same model). all deserves 3 stars. Also featured Buick Riviera,International Transtar,Mack R-series,and unknown Kenworth as 1-2 stars vehicles. |
◊ 2006-01-17 14:09 |
There were so many trucks? There was a Mack R-Series un MadMax 2 but I do not remember that these trucks were in the first one. Anyway, I'll rewatch the movie soon to add missing vehicles (including bikes and correct picture for the Falcon XA) |

Transtar tows tanker, from which bikers steal gasoline. Max chases the bikers up narrow road, but is slowed down while trying to go around a Mack R kenworth - one, which smashing the Toecutter -- Last edit: 2006-01-18 08:58:59 |

There is a yellow car missing from this list. There are 3 in the film, 2 marked as 'Interceptor' one is Max's, the other March Hare, and one as 'Pursuit'. The Pursuit is missing. Known as the Big Bopper, it's a 1974 Ford Falcon XB sedan, an ex-police car, it's the one that got totalled in the opening sequence. All 3 are used in the background throughout the film, they only had 3, so used them to make it look like a fleet. The opening chase was filmed last, as they trash one. |
◊ 2007-04-11 23:28 |
Actually two of the cars are identical, they are both mentionned on the 1974 Falcon page (I should maybe separate them) |
◊ 2007-08-17 03:11 |
i think they should b seperated because they both have important roles |

Did you know there was an AMC Hornet in the movie?? Pay close attention the the segment of the movie where the initial chase is headed for town... Watch very closely right after the guy is trying to get his caravan turned around in the road.. the scene flashes to the toddler getting up out of his stroller... right behind him is the left rear tail light/corner of an aussie AMC Hornet. It is a sort of green colour. The cars were called Ramblers in Australia, not AMC and they were assembled there as well. Follow the link to find out more.. http://www.zitrotek.com/amchornet/Departments/Resources/Australia.asp Cheers! Mike |

Yes, I saw that one with amber turn signal right next the the taillight cluster. By the way, It was produced under Australian Motor Industries (AMI) as described at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Motor_Industries website. |

Except for the few differences. It seems this web site has more accurate vehicle names listed than www.madmaxmovies.com . |

In the night pic of the 33 is the late Ian Shaw's (Datsfa was his knick name)1926 T model Ford Touring with a blown 351 Cleveland in it. All of the hotrods used in the movie were from the Thunderbirds Rod & Custom club from Victoria. Rip Shawry, you are missed mate. Doc. PS, No not all cars were Fords. Ther ewere a number of Holdens (GM Australia) as well as Chevrolets. |

Does anyone know what the jet car looking thing is? It's seen breifly in the garage scene where Max is shown the Interceptor. Just wondering is all. I don't see it here. -- Last edit: 2008-07-27 23:55:04 |

Fans may be sad to learn that the actor who played the railway Station Master, Reg Evans, was among the hundreds of victims of the recent bushfires in Victoria. Reg was a well known character actor in Australia, and he and his wife were killed trying to protect their property from the fires that swept through Victoria with such ferocity last weekend. These fires are the worst in Australia's history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reg_Evans http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25038335-5013404,00.html -- Last edit: 2009-02-12 09:04:31 |

I have capture some other vehicles and bad guys bikes. First I need to crop and sort out the bad guys bike mess... |
◊ 2010-05-16 01:43 |
But why didn't you crop the black borders from the thumbnails? |
◊ 2010-05-16 02:15 |
Because I don't want necessary editing to loose the picture quality. Beside it is only thumbnails. I have already cropped the necessary pictures for the main page upload. |

Saw this flick in 1979, in a run down movie theater in Somerville, New Jersey, USA. There was no advertising locally for the film, and it was the dubbed US version, with the Aussie accents removed. Couldn't figure out where this movie was set until I read the final credits. |

Why are all the bikes from Toecutter's gang not on the list ? |
◊ 2014-01-07 02:07 |
Well, a few things forgotten include: Construction vehicle (by the way, a very first shot filmed for the movie): A tractor near the Canadian Military Vehicle (any chance to identify this two for inclusion?) A Toy Car (Ford Falcon XB?) just for trivia. P.S. Sorry for quality. Not the best thing but still from a licensed DVD (Ukrainian, by the way it has both American dub and original Australian voice track!). After I did screenshots in Media Player Classic they turned letterboxed and in 4:3, so I cropped letterbox and corrected it to 16:9 in MS Paint (I prefer it to any other image processing program like Photoshop because it is simple and you eventually can do anything in it if you're inventive enough...). -- Last edit: 2014-01-07 02:14:39 |

I wonder why, as it is not so badly visible and not so common The construction vehicle however is not worth listing. The toy car could be posted on the page of one of the yellow Holdens already listed. |

I know. Despite your screen gives great details that are needed for identification, other details are not seen because of Gibson in the shot... |

This one here: Its the Project 500 Jet Car from 1972, powered by a Rolls Royce jet engine. Built to take the Australian Land Speed Record, it never fulfilled its potential thanks to unseasonal rain but did run 378 miles an hour in testing. here it is at Motorclassica 2012 (Melbourne) http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/uploads/cars/rolls_royce/3462119.jpg It sold at the same show in 2013 for a measly $15,000 AUD. Because we know what it is, and the interest, I think it is worth adding. |
◊ 2014-01-09 17:46 |
Indeed; how de we list that? As "Custom Made" I guess, as there is no known make? |
◊ 2014-01-10 03:24 |
I'd call it Project 500 as the make maybe? or Custom Made "Project 500 Jet Car"? Or even: 1974 Project 500 Jet-Car MKIII (C5B-08) as it is listed here Link to "www.cumminscars.com" You don't know how excited I am for this car to be listed. I noticed it the first time I watched Mad Max, and when I saw it in 2012, I was pretty sure it was the right car. Its took til now for me to get around to it. |

I notice in alot of these "end of the world" type movies only old cars would survive!! I guess all computers would be wiped out...old ignitions would survive.. |

For a film set in a post-apocalyptic world, everything looks fine, except for people's sanity. |

The bikes are various bikes made by both Kawasaki and Honda that were actually owned by the Vigilantes gang bikers that worked in this movie. The outfits used in the movie were actual outfits worn by them, too. The bikes are mainly 'Saki Z900 A1s, a few 1000s, and three Honda CB750, and 4 Honda CB900. These bikes were also painted by them, too. Way before the movie. The "Last of the V8 Interceptors" had its 351 torn and replaced with a 428 CJ, the front end is from a 1975 Australian Ford Concorde, the wheels are from a 1973 Ford Econoline (Australian Base Model Van), and the Weiand's dummy carb was quite functional and worked. They only tuned it to 600 HP with 650 Tq-FT-LBS because the rest of the crew couldn't handle just how fast it could go already "stock". The exhaust was made by Brisbane Crazy Cars and they also did the extra fab and tuning work of the Interceptor. Both the Interceptor and movie were made on extremely tight budgets and that is also why they tuned the car to its HP and TQ it has. Another thing I might add, the Vigilantes donated their "old, worn-out, and still functional" clothing for the outfits used in this film. They also donated their not-so-legal firearms as props for the movie, too. There is so much I love and will always love about this movie as a young 21-year-old classic car enthusiast that can't get enough of that Weiand's winding-up whine or that loud and proud exhaust that sounds so damned angry at the rest of the world. |

something which IMO can't be replicated in post apocalyptic world are CAR BATTERIES , in about 10 years after industrial production stops most cars will stop working too |
◊ 2020-12-23 15:38 |
Unless you have a car with magneto ignition and a starting handle. Second suggestion, a diesel vehicle with old style injection, and live on a hill. -- Last edit: 2020-12-23 15:40:35 |
◊ 2020-12-23 16:50 |
... and fuel?? Petrol and diesel both have shelf lives due to evaporation of volatiles and eventually become sludge which clog things up instead of flowing/igniting easily. Sort of parallel process also takes place with whisky, but that's another story ..... |
◊ 2020-12-23 17:23 |
Fuel for diesels would be less problem they seem capable of running after a fashion on more or less any organic petroleum style liquid or possibly animal product. Filters could be made using earth columns and patience. High octane petrol might be a problem. A further option would be steam propulsion using sea coal fired Sentinels, until the boilers wasted away. Then it’s roller skates or solid tyres push bikes, except in my case, where I would mount my Albacore on a lightweight boat trailer, and sail down the A5 to Bala. -- Last edit: 2020-12-23 17:32:48 |
