Fascinating 1-hour stand-alone documentary broadcast by BBC on 27 March 2019, "featuring 100 years of archival footage recounting the stories of people whose lives have been affected by the border between Ireland and the UK". See https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0003n65 , Link to "www.northernirelandscreen.co.uk" etc. Gives a very good context for explaining why resolving the border issues have become so critical for EU/UK Brexit negotiations. And has some interesting stuff for us to play with. Border dates from 1922, but there may be older footage in the mix. Well worth watching. Some very varied picture formats across the archive material, so captures will be all sorts of shapes, sizes and quality. A few days ago I saw on ARTE the Irish docu Link to "www.rte.ie" about the photographers of the local newspapers, who were contemporary witnesses of the whole conflict, who mad the pics of the Bloody Sunday or the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporals_killings Very impressive. And very distressing. |
