This is indeed the US model, the European Titanium has slightly different headlights: Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" All non-Titanium models also have different headlights, without the black surrounds. -- Last edit: 2011-04-26 14:44:44 |

Even though it's in Vienna, they have American plates. Could be built in the US then? The presenter of the show calls them "2012 Ford Focus". Wikipedia states: "For the 2012 model year, Ford decided to reunite both international and North American models by releasing the international Mk3 worldwide." (Link) The other Ford Focus in this season of the show (/vehicle_379487-Ford-Focus-2011.html) is called "2011 Ford Focus" and the action takes place in the US. (Wikipedia) Then made for USA too? One link says the assembly in Wayne, Michigan started in March 2011, but the airing of the first episode was on February 20 and probably the filmings even earlier. Another link states production in Saarlouis, Germany started in December 2010. |

The other one looks US spec to me too. It is probably a pre-production car loaned to the program makers supporting Gag's product placement hypothesis. |

OK - so US Focus uses the "Mustang Model Year Calendar" basis for calculation - a unique invention by Ford in the 1960s which has no basis in astronomical-derived reality and has years containing anything up to 600 or 700 days. Rumour has it that the dates are calculated by boiling up a mixture of frogs, old socks, mud and cabbage leaves for several hours, pouring the mixture on to a concrete surface and counting the number of flies it attracts within a 30 minute period. This figure is then multiplied by the number of telegraph poles in a randomly-chosen episode of Due South, and the result is used for the model year. |

But that "mk" naming is more an European thing. So like for the mkI/mkII I think it is better to use that for the EU version, and use only the year for the US version. |
