humungussilly horror comedy, more a spoof of those 50s giant bug B-movies -- Last edit: 2026-05-10 16:57:23 |

![]() This movie should come with an audio track without the spiders' noises. They drove me nuts! Upgraded to HD and added some stuff. bonus Grundig: ![]() 1. It's crickets, not grasshoppers, and it's spiders they're fed to who grow BIG and that's why the crickets are "spider steroids". 2. The spiders-obsessed kid is the sheriff's son. The daughter couldn't care less about spiders (except when one tries and, sadly, fails to eat her) and only raves about her mom. -- Last edit: 2026-05-18 17:45:20 (walter) |

^ it's nearly always the same 2 plot device in this movies - radiation or - toxic chemicals in reality both would kill the creatures rather than causing mutations... -- Last edit: 2026-05-17 11:09:33 |

^ That's a given, but all the same this movie should've been as much fun as Tremors, but it's not. The filmmakers goofed in several ways: - they clued the audience in at the get go; yes, I know, it may seem silly not to with that title and poster, but if so, it should've hit the ground running, but it didn't, instead it took forever before the movie got going; - they could've made up for that with some fun dialog, but it was really very lame most of the time (Tremors has Val and Earl bickering hilariously much of the time; none of that here); - spiders' noises; - they incorporated too many clichés in all seriousness instead of sending them up one way or another (the one cliché the movie didn't follow was a closing shot announcing a sequel - I was genuinely surprised at that); - Harlan (he's no Burt Gummer); - too many irritating (Bret, Ashley, Harlan) or unpleasant (Wade) characters, none of whom gets eaten; - pointless toxic waste subplot. And since you mentioned reality, spiders are cannibals. They should've been attacking and eating each other, too... ![]() |

The last point you made reminds me of a nonsensical aspect of zombie movies/shows. If zombies want to eat people/tear them apart why are there so many intact zombies? |
