Nice to see a genuine security van used in a series instead of some faked up old van. Securicor West Drayton. -- Last edit: 2023-09-07 10:58:59 |

The info on commercials with dvla etc really is rubbish in many cases. Cargo was not introduced till 1981 ! This is strange to me as licencing and testing of commercials over 3.5te gross is very strict in UK. So strict in fact that there is no market at all for stolen vehicles as government checks and official yearly tests would id them quickly. Stolen trucks are either exported or broke for spares. -- Last edit: 2023-09-07 15:35:54 |

DVLA seem to use "FORD CARGO 1615" as a generic dustbin description for Ford commercials where they can't be arsed to enter a proper ID - creates lots of anomalies and date impossibilities, but that's how they choose to run the railways. Same laziness creates multitudes of alleged Dennis Elites and several weird and wonderful Bedfords, Mercs, Volvos and whatever else trucky. |

It is odd they are so lax on make descriptions because LGV licencing, testing and plating regulations are so strict and only done at government testing stations. Therefore gross weights and axle loadings etc must be absolutely spot on . -- Last edit: 2023-09-08 13:40:54 |

I think it is something to do with codes in the back end of these sites, a lot of older stuff now comes up as "Unknown Unknown" on one of the sites I use for info, which is annoying. |

That's one of my go-to sites as well. I think it happens when DVLA record is extinct, either because DVLA have deleted the record (although some hang on within DVLA MOT) or sometimes the vehicle is extinct although there's still a DVLA main site record. If DVLA records deleted it knocks on to other plate sites which feed off their data, so things start getting sticky. Car insurance websites may still give a trace (I use AA and Sainsburys because you can plate check quickly without being dragged in to entering other stuff) and Auto Trader's create-an-ad page. Sometimes Cartell gives a trace when nothing elsewhere, but not much detail. |

Securicor Lock & Safe Co. Ltd of Leeds built the security vans for Securicor Plc back then, later ones were converted by Bedwas Bodyworks Ltd. of Bedwas, Wales. |
