I've sent all remaining cars by mail, did someone receive that?

I think I saw them in the "contrib" mailbox but haven't time to upload them yet. If you haven't done it yet, create a topic on the contribution section of the forum (just indicating that the pictures were sent by e-mail), so we do not forget them, it is easier to manage to see what is waiting.

The plane is a Northrop YB49 'flying wing' of the late 1940's.

If this movie didn't exist, there wouldn't be a 2005 War of the Worlds, which is a remake of this film.

I realized that the 1953 War of the Worlds is similar to the 2005 War of the Worlds because both movies has a scene of the aliens probing a house with a tentacle with a camera on it. However, the 1953 WOTW fighting machine appears to be a UFO and the 2005 WOTW fighting machine appears to be a very big tripod.

I honestly think the 2005 WOTW is cooler.

“We know now that we can't beat their machines. We've got to beat them.”

So much noise about beating them, and then they just drop dead. Seemed like such a cop out ending, but apparently it's the same in the novel. Other than that, though, it's still an amazing movie.

Upgraded to HD, amended several ratings, and added some stuff.

I know it's been eight years, but better late than never: both movies are adaptations of the same novel, so the 2005 movie could've been made even if this one did not exit.

Well ...
humungus looked at it ...
So better images will probably be available soon at IMPDB (the page was created in 2012 -one of the very first- with a process that was worthy of the 20th century...).

An excellent '50s sci-fi, one of the best of the decade and it took home a Best Special Effects Oscar. Well deserved, though the fact it was the only film nominated feels like a disservice to Ray Harryhausen's work on The Beast From 20'000 Fathoms.

Wells' estate was so happy with this film that they gave George Pal permission to adapt whichever H.G. Wells story he wanted, which lead to the 1960 film adaptation of The Time Machine.

As a fun bit of trivia, this is where Mystery Science Theater 3000 got the "Dr. Clayton Forrester" name for it's antagonist.
