This show can be considered as an American version of the famous British TV show "Top Gear"! |
◊ 2008-07-12 02:13 |
This have nothing incommon with Top Gear, this is a crappy copy of MythBusters. |
◊ 2008-08-13 08:38 |
This show is awful. It is as if they took mythbusters and sucked out the personality of the cast and the science in the "experiments". They are supposed to be coming up with "practical" ideas for the real world, yet somehow the only type of solutions they can think of is a car that explodes and goes flying 20 feet in the air, to avoid getting hit by another car ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-11-11 10:13:15 |

Yes, I watched two first episodes from Discovery Finland, and never since. |

Despite the work, what's the interest of listing this show? (Not only this one, we have plenty of more shows that are not supposed to be here) ![]() |

What do you mean when you say this show's not supposed to be here? If this show has an IMDB page I see no problem listing it. Certainly this page is more useful than let's say a documentary no one has ever heard. |
◊ 2008-10-17 08:49 |
It's not a show about cars though? I'm not talking specificly about this show... |

For 'non-fiction' shows (like this one) I wouldn't list background cars at all. Just vehicles with a role. |
◊ 2008-10-17 11:22 |
That would be a good idea. Shall we include that in our 'rules'? |
◊ 2008-10-17 11:36 |
Depend what kind of background. There may be background car still in a way involved. Same as Top Gear: we list background cars when they are just shown & not used, but we do not list trafic car when they do a test on public roads. It is not about cars, but still involves cars, I find it useful to list since we included some other show. The cars are used in experiments I guess, like in Mythbusters. I think it is more worth listing than some documentaries, like the one about NL highways of the other day ![]() -- Last edit: 2008-10-17 11:41:22 |

Non-fiction car programs are maybe an exception (TG, Fifth Gear etc). If a car is mentioned and also seen it should automatically be included. Background cars are problematic though because every case is somehow different. But we only have few car shows right now so we could use different rules in their case. This is what I had in my mind when I mentioned documents. Eventhough the document was somehow car related there were too many background cars listed from highways. It would have been a different case if it had been old footage (60's etc.) and historically interesting. If I wan't to see modern cars on the highway's I can just look outside of my window. |

I got the hint when I uploaded it ![]() I think you're right. Some of them we can miss. But then we have to use the same 'rules' with old footage in a documentary. It's different when a car from the 60's appears in a modern documentary (not footage). The fact that you like old cars should not be an argument in listing it or not. In 20 years all these modern cars are gone and historically interesting. ![]() But I will clean up the page ![]() -- Last edit: 2008-10-17 13:50:56 |
