Well in a couple words is about building scams hidden by political scams. And as usually in movies the right side of the political scene is "the bad side" (just try to find a movie from the last 50 years in which we have not nice leftists ![]() -- Last edit: 2008-04-25 21:59:42 |

What about The Green Berets? It's basically a propaganda film for Vietnam. |

What I meant are rather the right and left fractions in democratic countries. Of course somehow you are right and for sure you can give more similar examples, mainly of the American war movies, but I would say that all of them were against communism as a totalitarian regime and here is the difference. For example in my country during the communism era there was a lot of movies made against the communistic government, but it doesn't mean that they didn't represent the leftists/social point of view (even if the main character spent every Sunday at the Church ![]() |

Yeah the example that I brought up specifically targets the left by making the old point that the media is biased. (which is true to some extent) Just about all of these movies were against communism, but this movie criticizes anyone who opposed the war. |

Those were the(good)days in my honest opinion. Pointing the gap between the economical/political power and the people desires and needs in terms of justice , equality and dignity, directing human beeing to a progressist way , was a main aim of intellectualism which was indeed dominated by left ideologies. That was healthy for the sake of democracy, it made the balance between antagonist classes of the society and helpt for bringing up people from ignorance, fears and religions. Nowaday, right ideology is higly dominating and its impact is immeasurably more efficient with the help of financial powers ( who's holding most of medias, TV, newpapers, cinema industries)... and dictates to governments the policies for their own intersts firsts (private)... Sorry if I'm off topic... by the way, I we can agree each other. It's a good film ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-08-10 11:59:51 |

In this what you wrote I can't agree with this "domination of the right ideology today". I simply do not consider conformist neoliberals as the right wing. They are for me the 3rd (and actually the worst) force, the compilation of the most terrible features of both sides. I'm interested in living in the capitalist country, but not in an "anarcho-capitalist" "global world", where consumption is a new religion (Btw. is it really better than the "old" religions?), everything is subordinated to profits and interests of some large international concerns and even "human rights" and so called "freedom" became a product, on which it is possible to earn money. It has nothing to do with this in what I belive though I prefer the right side (in such shape like we understand and know it here). Since longer time actually I find this war between the conservative right and real left side (I wrote "real", because, to be honest, hard to call most of the today's "mainstream" "socialist" parties really socialist), as a bit out of date. The only winner in it are the neoliberals. Of course socialist will never agree with the right side (and "vice-versa" - that's not the point), but both sides have to look closer to this with what they fight today, for their enemy. It is already new and different from the one, to which they got used. Then both can discover that, suprisingly are against the same thing (even if have different reasons to this). The other thing is that in every country words "right" and "left" can have a bit different meaning and it can be wrong to judge the politic situation of one country with criteria used in other. So my descritpion also can't fits everywhere. From the same reasons I'm also trying to be carefull and objective with opinions about this and similar films (not to mention that most of old films, which I've uploaded represent actually the social POV ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-08-10 23:41:00 |

@Weasel: I think, you are talking more about the situation in the USA? In Europe it isn't so extreme right now. I don't know, how it's in Poland, but in Germany we don't have many neoliberals in the way like the US-Republicans. And these few, we have, have no power and noone listens to them. A "war", as you told (better say "hard fights"), between "right" and "left" we don't have here. It's rather opposite: you cannot see real differences any more. These hard left-right-fights we had in West Germany before 1989/90. I remember it, I'd been in these political times in school and a main part of my Abitur (like Matura or Baccalaureat) was political sciences. But in West Germany we had no real hard Moscow-bondaged communists like in France and Italy (except a few hundred unnoticed clowns from the DKP and SEW). |

Yes - today's Europe (with my country too) is definitely not extreme "right" - and that's exactly what I wrote. I can't see it "right" in any way, even a bit. Some more liberal point of view on the economy (not to mention again the liberal, blind madness) doesn't automatically place anyone on the right side. There are also some other, more important values. |
