A Bedford CA minibus appeared in the 2019 Christmas special, reg number was UDT318 but that appears to be a false plate for series as it does not come up on DVLA site. UDT series is Doncaster 1956 when clearly the Bedford is 60's -- Last edit: 2019-12-31 20:53:56 (dsl) |

Broadcast 25/12/2019. imdb refers to it as ep 9.0 most of the time (although one page has it as ep 8.0). I'll use 9.0. Absolute soporific sentimental twaddle designed to anaesthetise a whole nation as we head into uncertain political times - every twee festive cliche you can think of tipped into a pot, slightly stirred, and then liquidised. The only redeeming feature is that for some bizarre reason they decided to open an outpost in the Outer Hebrides, so some nice scenery. Episode set in December 1964. The happy band of two-dimensional simpletons travel by train from London to "Mallaig" (cue random archive choo-choos) ... and then arrive on Lewis to stay at a "youth hostel" - actually St Clement's Church, Rodel on Harris - and set up their "hospital" at Gearrannan Blackhouse Village on Lewis (which is feasible as Lewis and Harris are different parts of the same island, but slightly inconvenient as the nurses go round on bicycles and Rodel is actually 69 miles away from Gearrannan). Rejects Opening titles: (is that a 1967+ Transit LWB in second thumb, time-travelling back to 1964??) Others (all London) A40 Somerset and 100E - Minor 4 door (best of 3 fractional glimpses) - Standard Eight There's also a half-baked sub-plot about a white Stag, but we end up with this ... but I suppose in "1964" this was as good as it could get. |

I don't see how the GWR got to Mallaig. Ambulance? The other "train" thumb must have been flown in from some exotic destination. Also, I'll thank you to exclude me from the "whole nation" comment, we didn't watch it. -- Last edit: 2019-12-31 19:56:16 |

A-H 3000 Mk2 with mid-62 windows or early Mk3 (Feb 64). VBG 113 seems total fake. |

^ Morris-Commercial J-Type or its renamed successor as Morris JB. It's the more common version of the Austin 101 seen in s2. |
