If so, they were cheating. There was some small plot elements for Manchester in short early clips, but not a major feature. There was a lot of recognisable Dundee locations, but also several non-specific "Dundee" locations (general buildings, yards etc) which could have been filmed anywhere without affecting the story. And almost all the cast was Scottish - only Emma had a Manc accent, which was part of the story.
