Too new probably, Nissanisation was, I think 1984 (or late 1983). Later than that? |

Too new anyway, because has 1985 MY taillamps. Interesitng is this badge on the left, which says "Nissan" as well, some had it, some not... |

I think it's to do with the fact that Nissan was a new name. Up until 1984ish it was Datsun all the way. |

Maybe it was related with this indeed, but I don't get such strategy with the same word multiplication - "It is Nissan now! NISSAN - better remember this!" -- Last edit: 2016-11-27 14:41:17 |

I think Nissanisation was early 82 from Glass's info. The B11 arrived here in May 82, and in my mind are always Nissan. Cherry changed from N10 to N12 in Sept 82, and again I think the brand changed at same time. Not confident enough to extend this to bigger models with the same precision. |

You are right, this one was only branded as Nissan |

If the plate is genuine (which it probably isn't), it's a Manx registration so the final letter is unhelpful. |

According to how others are listed on site, these taillights (not to mention the grille) first appeared during the 1984 MY. Japanese wikipedia also speaks of a "minor change" in October 1983 which supports this theory. |

March 1984 August 1984! February 1985 ... Don't see any (European) cars, which would be a mixture of the new taillamps and old bumpers, but can be wrong about it... Back to the brand - the car was badged as Datsun/Nissan till ~1984/85 changes, but the brand was only Nissan, in most of countries, including the UK - to confirm -> May 1982 |

It is a fake Manx plate - Y suffix only came with BMN (Sept-Nov 90). |

Afaik -First Nissan badged car in UK was Prairie in 1983. After that in 1984 came the 300ZX , then Silvia and later 300C, (all these had no previous Datsun badges) |

@weasel: I finally found what those badges are for. They were 50th Anniversary badges fitted to cars in 1984:![]() Also came in blue and black, and it seems Nissan owners fit them to newer cars. |

Hi folks. To clear up this one, this B11 Sunny was my car at the time, sadly it had to go for scrap not long after due to a number of problems. The plate is of course an IOM one and is fake. The car itself was C196 HOK from 1985 hence the Nissan badge and the larger facelifted rear lights and bumpers. I do have another B11 now but a proper Datsun one from 1983! -- Last edit: 2016-02-04 13:48:08 |
