I think it's a special tractor for moving trailers around at a port, rather like a railway shunter or switcher. I remember seeing similar tractors hauling trailers in and out of ferries at Dover. Presumably they must be significantly cheaper than normal articulated truck tractors. |

2004 Ottawa Commander 30 link you're correct these are called yard mules, they make moving trailers around the terminal or port easier because they have a hydraulic 5th wheel, that raises and lowers the landing gear off the ground without the driver having to get out and crank up the landing gear. -- Last edit: 2006-07-05 23:06:39 |
