Used as an undertakers vehicle, but more a van than hearse.

The fluted hood definitely points to a Vauxhall base . Possibly ca 1938 big six converted into a van

I also thought the hood had the Vauxhall flutes but I think now it is probably a reflection in the paintwork. There is no appearance of the thin end of a flute at the end closest to the windscreen.

Also the headlights are not typically Vauxhall in shape. They tended to be longer and more tear-drop in profile.

Not Vauxhall but instead a van based on an Austin 10 from 1939.

Bonnet side flash identical and bonnet/grill shape.

At least it would never have been used as a hearse in the UK. Could be a former ambulance that has been retrained as an undertakers vehicle.

Def no hearse but a body collection vehicle yes..but they would have had to go in above the drivers head as the body is too short - the van, not the corpse - much like an ambulance would. Without seeing the film, how do we know they were undertakers or a body was put into it? Guess we are all going on the look of the person? The bodywork is more akin to a gown van...

Although it could have originally built as a gown van, "Undertakers & Embalmers" on the side is a good clue to its use, and in the episode it was used to collect a body.

I don't think this is an Austin. Could well be a Morris Ten. They had very rounded front wings, bonnet side flashes, small headlights, funny little round sidelights and a flying radiator mascot...
Look at this one:
/vehicle_296367-Morris-Ten-M-1946.html
The bonnet side flashes don't look long enough for an Austin and I can't see the moulding around the wing edge that the Austin had. Then again the GS1 had overriders and a very similar flying handle thingy on the bonnet...
Can't make my mind up!
