Think, McFly, think. This scene is set in Japan, where it was called Fairlady Z, not 240Z/260Z/280Z as the US-spec ones. The 280Z has indicators in the grille, whereas this one has them below the headlights. Also, the mirrors are fender-mounted, which is typically Japan-spec. The US-spec Datsuns have them on the doors. |

there are literally dozens of these S30 Z-Cars that make background appearances of varying significance, ranging from pit chiefs to passing faces in the crowd. all of them that i spotted (with the exception of a tiny one in the Italian casino) are in the Japanese segment of the movie, and wearing the tell tale JDM fender mirrors, so Nissan Fairlady Z is correct. They also use an S30 Nissan hubcap as the gong in the Japanese exposition. all of the Z-Cars seem to be wearing the hubcap style illustrated by the gong, which was introduced in the 1972 model year. -- Last edit: 2015-04-26 18:37:31 |
