mm ◊ 2006-03-21 00:03	I 'd rather say that most of the soviet military stuff in this film is fake "Made for Movie". It was made in 1984, when the cold war was still rather cold - a few years before Ronnie Reagan and Michail Sergeyevitch Gorbachev started talking. At that time most socialist countries would't have sold tanks to the West. Especially not for movies and not such ones that weren't heavily outdated. So I suspect the movie prop guys did their best to make some scrap look as "soviet" as possible.

Alexander ◊ 2006-04-22 17:03	It is possible that it is based on the XM chassis. To my knowledge it was designed and first produced by Reo. As a name for this vehicle I would suggest 'Made for Movie based on Reo XM'.

Harold B ◊ 2024-10-10 03:40	I was blown away when I realized the ID of 'Reo XM' was actually right. The correct name would be Reo XM453E3. The XM453 was a series of prototype 8x8 trucks built for the US Army in the 1950s. GMC's design was XM453E1, Ford's was XM453E2, and Reo's was XM453E3. The GMC and Ford designs have the axles too close together, but the Reo is a match. Only three of each were built, and none of the Reos are known to survive. There is one survivor each of the other two designs.
