One of the cars used is for sale on eBay. VIN #vx1ba121xjk404853 104,000 miles Here is the description: A year ago I got a call from a propmaster friend of mine offering me a job as the "Picture Car Coordinator" on a movie called "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist." Cool, I thought to myself, a remake about the Thin Man Series with William Powell and Myrna Loy. No, not really, It's about these kids who fall in love in the Village one night in New York City, starring Michael Cera from Juno and Super Bad, Kat Dennings from 40 Year old Virgin and Aaron Yoo,Alexis Dziena and Rafi Gavron. Directed by Peter Sollett. So I agree anyway only to find out I have to supply 3 MATCHING YUGO'S! and a couple of matching Dodge vans. So I thought to myself, are there 3 Yugos anywhere in the country? Forget whether they run or not. Matching is the least of my problems. How could I possibly find 3, twenty year old cars that were considered disposable when the ashtrays filled up. Well, not only could I find them, I found 3 that ran beautifully! This one up for auction right now came from Texas and is a rust free, 1 owner car. There are may new parts installed because there is nothing worse than having an entire movie company wating around while you change a bad belt or a broken hose. It should also be completely safe, because the only thing worse than the car not running,is having some kind of catastrophic safety failure that injures tha talent or surrounding crew.Seriously though, the car performed flawlessly thoughout the entire shoot, in the coldest and dampest weather in New York in the winter and never let us down. Sometimes it would run ALL NIGHT LONG, without so much as a hiccup! The cars were all painted the same matching yellow, and looked beautifull. The"rusty spots seen in the pictures were all "scenic applications." This car looks EXACTLY as is does in the movie, I didn't remove any of the "dressing". It also has the added bonus of getting almost 40 miles to the gallon of gas. The movie comes out Oct 3rd, I'll even throw in a copy of the script! If you google "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist for images, you can find many pictures of "Jessie" the Yugo. Also IMDB.com,you can find me, Hollywood Nick. Thanks for looking, and Happy Bidding! I'll be happy to answer any questions prior to the end of the auction, and remember, this auction is for only 1 of the three cars, not all three. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2008-10-10 04:06:31 |

My family used to have one of these. We had a 1988 in "upscale" GVL trim. The motor was pretty reliable but the rest of the car fell apart. Rust all over the place. If you slammed the door too hard you were guaranteed that something would fall off. |

Carguy60, you say there were 3 of these used for the movie?? I just bought one off eBay- the car is located in Texas now- but has a different VIN then the one you posted. Also only has around 40k on the odometer. I wouldn't think it would be a fake, I mean who would take the time to duplicate this car. I would love to hear more history from the movie and process of making the car so rough looking. Thanks so much |
