M38A1. The military predecessor to the CJ -5. Introduced 1952, produced until early '70s for foreign orders. Difficult to tell from front view if it is a CJ-5 or military unit. This has split windscreen and top mounted wipers of the M38A1, but is lacking the blackout light on front fender and it has a square civilian rearview mirror. However, both are commonly seen on survivors. However, in another posted photo from the film of a green van, in the foreground there is a Army painted Jeep. It shows a spare tire on the right rear fender. If that is the same vehicle seen here, it is a CJ-5, as most military Jeeps: MB/GPW, M38, M38A1...had spare tires on the back. -- Last edit: 2024-05-02 07:25:56 |
