But is it a real Neoplan ? There's a small badge behind the door, reading, I think, "SB3000". Did Neoplan ever body coaches on DAF chassis ? |

Gottlob Auwärter GmbH & Co. KG, trading as Neoplan, at least used DAF engines on occasion, particularly when MAN and Mercedes-Benz tried to hold back the N 416, Neoplan's contribution to the Standard Linienbus II project, by refusing to provide engines for these for a while - they didn't want another player on the market for public service buses, especially not one that released it's variant earlier than the versions coming from the "big two". But it also happpened earlier than that. JHM-1975-1109 DAF Neoplan 7107VC Neoplan Jetliner 05453 62-74-NB Meering 30 JHM-1974-0294 DAF NeoplanSfakianakis S.A. (formerly Büssing Hellas, now sort of successor to Biamax) looks good, but all of their Neoplan cover versions appear to emulate later generations rather than the mid-1980s' Cityliner. ![]() |

As far as the structure is concerned, i have no doubt that it is a real Neoplan, right down to the seat cushions, but there is no denying that the nameplate does not read N116. I initially thought it was a name for the air conditioning system. The question is1. is this a new make DAF-Neoplan SB 3000 or simply a 2. Neoplan Cityliner with a DAF engine, like the first Neoplan had a Henschel engine etc. |

I also lean towards a genuine Neoplan unless we find evidence for Sfakianakis bodies of that generation and my suggestion would be either "Neoplan N116 Cityliner DAF SB 3000" or "DAF SB 3000 Neoplan N116 Cityliner". That's two opinions in one - how cool is that? ![]() |
