Appears to be based off a 1956 Chrysler Windsor. |

Certainly interesting, but by no means a hearse, for about 36 reasons. One of them is the obviously un-black livery in 1961 Germany - wasn't considered acceptable at all. Right now, I have no idea why you would modify a Chrysler like that, but it must be some sort of wagon or sedan delivery. Coachwork looks German to me. For any further info I need any further info, e.g. more pictures. Haven't watched the movie yet and couldn't find the car during a quick-check. I'm going to watch it, though: Filmed 140 km from here and the entire village incl. houses and environment totally look like the area I live in. This could be right across the street. Except for the colors, of course, as we are no longer black & white here. (OK, I am black, but all the other people and houses and stuff are colored. Whatever, you get the point.) |

Seems like it started life as a hardtop or a convertible. |

Update: I'm watching it right now. Boy, that picture above is way longer than the scene in the movie... No further pictures then, I'm afraid. I think we have a little sensation in the sense of a rare and/ or unique largely or completely forgotten coachbuilt something on our hands and I'd love to learn more about it, but unfortunately can't see this become a fully named and identified sensation anytime soon. Unless a visitor recognizes it one day. [and now Sssh! I'm watching a movie.] |
