Called "Magic convertible" in the documentary

A well-documented car indeed.
And it seems to have all of the 1951 Super's styling cues except for the side trim. It should have double side trim like the Hornet and Commodore, as well as the "Super" nameplate. Only the Pacemaker had single trim that year and this is not a Pacemaker.
Interesting.

And why may the side trims be missing?

Good question. It's missing from both sides.

Here is the 1951 Hudson Super brochure page:

Note the side trim pattern does not match the subject car.

is there any chance that it is a Pacemaker with luxurious elements from the Super?

No, the wheelbase is shorter on a Pacemaker. This fact can be observed by the space between the door and the wheelarch. There's nothing odd about the missing trim, really - this car was 6 years old at the time, maybe the owner removed it.

I briefly entertained the idea about a 1950 with a 1951 front end, but the dashboard is already that of a 1951.

And 1950 models also had the doubled side trim.

Actually, if you look at the 1950 brochure the Super is depicted without trim - the Convertible is not depicted in the brochure for some reason, but can be viewed here (scroll down to page 4), and it's written that side ornamentation was indeed optional on the Super.

Side ornamentation is also listed as optional on the 1951 Super.

that explains everything

VERY interesting, Lateef! I had never seen a Super in either '50 or '51 without the lower side trim piece. Supers without it must be quite rare indeed.
One learns something new every day!
Do you have a link to that full Hudson ID site?

Here - type in "Hudson models described" and hit search.

Thanks, Lateef.
Sadly, the Studebaker section has no model/year info.
