When you see it, you see what the Toyota Land Cruiser has been a copy of ![]() |

It's a Jeep, but the wheelbase looks a little long. |

AMC Jeep CJ6 (After 1972, but lacking side marker lights?) |

Could it be older, i.e. a Kaiser-Jeep or even Willys-Jeep, and the hard-top and doors were added later? |

Toyota Bandeirante |

Good find, Mr Ander! Should we list it as origin Japan, built in Brazil, made for BR - or just origin Brazil? |

According to Wikipedia it was nearly identical (visually) to the J40 series but with a Mercedes engine replacing the Toyota one. |

That was a bit too quickly renamed. It definitely is a CJ-6. Toyota Bandeirante: ![]() ![]() CJ-6: ![]() ![]() ![]() The only question was, how old is the car. The age defines the brand name, which changed pretty often. Without the side makers I would say it is one of the early Willys Jeep CJ-6 (1955). |

This is an AMC Jeep CJ6 after 1972. #1 Longer wheelbase than the CJ5. #2. On the upper portion of the rear side panel is an indentation originally for the folding top bows when upright. Present on M38A1, M170, CJ5, & CJ6. Not on any Toyota. #3 The longer front cowling of a post 1972 AMC Jeep CJ. #4 The lack of a side fuel filler dates after 1972. US sales stopped at the end of '75 with the introduction of the CJ7 but continued as exoprt only until 1981(?). What about side marker lights??? Perhaps this is an export model w/o? Where was it filmed? If outside the USA there is the answer to the side marker lights. The above reference CJ6 photos are good. The gray one shows the longer 1972+ cowling and the later 1972+ rear mounted fuel filler. The two green ones show the shorter wheelbase with fuel filler exposed. -- Last edit: 2008-01-15 16:50:19 |

Could it be that the fuel filler is simply hidden under the oversized door? From the other pictures showing this actress in same clothes this is probably in the USA. |

The key feature is the longer front fender of the post '72. Compare the later gray model above to either of the early green ones. This model has the longer wheelbase. |

Right, now I see it! Thanks, Jim! |

Hello Mike, the Bandeirante looks like a japanese Land Cruiser FJ40. Starts as CKD in 1958 and starts in 1968 to be produced with 100% brazilian parts. |

Thanks, Ander-san, for this extra information. As you've seen this 'Jeep' has been identified in the meanwhile as an AMC Jeep CJ-6. I suppose the Bandeirante was only sold in Brazil... Would have been great to have a third Bandeirante on the site... |
