I don't think that's a CJ5. Look at how hunched this is. To me it looks rather like a CJ2 that someone has built a more sturdy body around. -- Last edit: 2020-06-07 18:24:57 |

Jeep CJ models have many similarities that often make it difficult to identify. Here a blurry image complicates the process. This Jeep has the curved hood and curved forward fenders of a CJ5-CJ8. The short wheelbase and curved door opening ID it as a CJ5. Additionally the front fender has the federally mandated side marker light style of 1970 and later. The absence of the side fuel filler is 1971 or later. The windshield frame appears tapered toward the top of 1976 or later. This is not clear but going on the only view available. Along the side panel above the rear wheel the "top bow recess" is visible which was discontinued during 1977. My best guess is this is a 1976 - early production 1977 CJ5. A clear view of the front fender, windshield, or JEEP logo on the side could provide additional information as it could be as early as 1971 but the pic is not clear? |
