Did it exist as real police car? Were there any Cadillac police car?

It's a fake. I doubt in real life any police force would have the budget to use a Cadillac as a uniformed cruiser.

This footage for this epi. prob recycled from an epi of B.J. and the Bear-Sheriff Lobo. Because that is the car that was used exact color, exact decals on the Caddy plus other police car next to it. Was primarly driven by Claude Akins on the show. This pic should be moved to B.J. and the Bear search area and given 4 stars.

Agree with you I am, QWERTY. No police force in US would use a Cadillac sedan for its fleet. Just in Chicago P.D, some CTS and Escaldes were driven by detectives.

I watched the BJ and the Bear, and this is not the same car. The car in that series was slowly and totally destroyed in season 1 ep 3, having a wall fall on it, then a door knocked off, which caused the hood to fall off, then the other door was taken off, at this point the trunk lid vanishes, and then the roof is taken off, before it is shown covered in mud being towed. During this, it is also involved in several small/medium collisions. It would not have been worth repairing at the time. Also, this is a 1976, I think that one was a 1977. Finally, this picture shows aftermarket wire wheels, while BJ/Bear had standard plain hubcaps.
As to having this as a police car - no, it would have been expensive, impractical and even the most corrupt police force wouldn't drive something so obvious around. I have seen performance cars that have been impounded pressed into duty, such as an SRT8 Challenger in Ohio, but this car would not be suitable for police work.

B J and the Bear preceded "The Misadventures of Sherriff Lobo", and yes, he still drove a Seville police car in that spinoff "Lobo". Episodes are on youtube and his Seville has wires. Just because the one is wrecked in "Bear" didn't mean that he didn't get another. Lobo was corrupt and took bribes, thus the point of him having the very expensive Seville was that he was on the take. It's a 1979 TV show....the writers for this silly TV show weren't striving for realism. Case in point, the "Smokey and the Bandit"-inspired destruction of Lobo's Seville in "B J and the Bear" as seen in the "Lobo" opening credits. And as far as a Seville not being appropriate for police work? The show was made circa 1979 during the malaise era. A Chevy Nova was a top respected police vehicle in LA. For the needs of 40 years ago, a Seville would actually have made a decent police car with the proper shocks, etc. We're not talking about a Seville for use in today's world. JR0d32 is entirely right. This is apparently stock footage from "The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo", and both that show and "Murder She Wrote" were Universal Studio productions.
