My guess is that 'Rover 9' would probably be Rover cars/Land Rover's project vehicle description for the initial contract. Rover as the car company doing the tendering and 9 for the 9ft wheelbase (forgetting the extra inch). Rover/Land Rover used a similar description for at least one other Land Rover vehicle. |
