How do we know this is a 62+ SC2 and not an older SC1? |

I'm not too sure, but I do assume that this car was possibly repainted silver in Season 2 Episode 23 as Marsha Queen of Diamonds' (Carolyn Jones) vehicle of choice: ![]() |

In other words you don't know it's a 1962 car? |

Do we know he added that, maybe some admin did without commenting? |

Initially this /vehicle_602821-Pierce-Arrow.html was a 1936 Packard Eight so take puterboy's fully ID'd uploads with a grain of salt. |

Indeed, I've said this before in the admin section. I'm unsure how long this has been listed as a 1962 SCII though. Lets change it back to SC1 unless someone has a flash of inspiration or an explanation. |

As I always say, "I am not too very good with identifying old cars", but I am just trying to help in contributing with a little extra help in identifying the cars with the rest of you guys. I just assume from what I see as well as images of others. Now that my mistake has been fixed, I can assume that this car appears to be a '59 model. |

I might have miscalculated. |

SC 1 was 55+, visually identical SC2 59+, 4 headlight SC3 62+. As above this is SC1 or SC2 so our custom is to default to earliest; if this is genuinely wrecked, older makes more sense than newer. |

The only visual difference I know of between SC1 and SC2 applies only to home (and possibly European, I'm not sure) market cars: SC1s have Lucas P700 headlights with 'spiders' in, SC2s have ordinary old Lucas sealed beams. |

There were two Silver Clouds used in this sequence; an SC1/2 and a four-headlight SC3. The wrecked car is an early '50s Cadillac limousine:![]() That image is from a rare behind-the-scenes home movie; here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYEvhPCyocs&feature=youtu.be The Caddy might even be this one, since Twentieth Century-Fox already smashed it up once: /vehicle_356667-Cadillac-Fleetwood-75.html Edit: Just pulled this HD shot from Amazon. The bumper bullets ID it as a '53 Caddy, plus the brace welded across the bumper makes it even more likely this was the car used for the ramming scene in Fantastic Voyage: ![]() -- Last edit: 2015-01-03 10:25:33 |
