Does anyone have this movie? I do. I must be the only reviewer who has this movie |

I have surely seen some Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons as kid, but I cannot renember any of them (while I recall Mr. Magoo from the same show rather well.) But I try (or rather not) to imagine 1950-early60ies cartoon characters as cgi in a actualized story, driving in ugly 1990ies plastic-cars, using mobile-phones and internet, etc... Is the movie as horrible as I imagine it to be? -- Last edit: 2012-10-30 21:59:28 |

I actually liked it - instead of aiming for young children or teens it aims at a young adult audience and it makes fun of itself well. |

I have read that the original show was definitely aimed at a mature audience as well (in fact, all earlier cartoons before WW2 were never intended to be for children. Only cheaply produced serials in the TV, starting in the mid 1950ies, degraded cartoons to pure children-entertainment later.). Sadly, I haven't got any original Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons to compare. I just don't like cgi-animation-movies that much and all examples of classic 2d cartoon-characters converted in pseudo-3d-cgi I have seen myself so far really sucked. So I would be astonished if that one worked after all, but of course there might be exceptions from the rule. -- Last edit: 2012-10-30 21:58:46 |

What happened to all the thumbnails? |

Imageshack didn't like them (one more reason to not use that site anymore for pictures) |

There were some other cop vehicles from other states in the scenes and there were some 1986-1990 caprices that Agent Sympathy got arrested and in the backgrounds there were some NYC taxis |

![]() I never understood the need to have human characters in a live action adaptation of a cartoon act and generally behave like stupid cartoon characters. What's the point of such a live adaptation? I don't remember Rocky and Bullwinkle ever airing on TV here (I certainly never saw them), and I only watched this movie long ago for its cast. However, only two things about it stayed with me for all these years: I hated, hated, hated it, and I laughed only twice: at De Niro's "That's completely differeeeeent!", and John Goodman's cameo. What I didn't remember is that I apparently loathed Jason Alexander and Rene Russo so much, I declared Estelle Getty from that Stallone monstrosity would no longer give me nightmares - as they would, instead. As the case may be, she still does, and I have no memory of the two... Upgraded to HD and added a few surprising omissions for a movie with four (count 'em!) prior contributors. Rocky & Bullwinkle try to hitch a ride from three blurry passing vehicles, but only two are listed. This is the third one: ![]() bonus mini convertiblah from Fearless Leader's instructional film or some such: ![]() ![]() ![]() bonus blurry blue something: ![]() bonus weird (for me, anyway) truck and its reflection: ![]() ![]() bonus top-down sedan: ![]() bonus truck for franchumar: ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2025-04-23 17:25:36 (walter) |

Metropolitan 1500, but shrunk to half(?) size - they weren't big things to start with. Or they're very very big people ... |

the only live action adaptation with cartoons which truly ever worked was Who Framed Roger Rabbit ![]() -- Last edit: 2025-04-23 00:51:00 |

True, but it doesn't quite fit the bill as it's not an adaptation of an earlier cartoon, and the difference between the human world and the cartoon world was pretty much the point of it, so humans had to act like a humans. |
