US or EU focus? ![]() |

USDM Focus, also built in the US presumably. Wagon was called ZXW or sumfink or nuffink. I believe assembly moved to Hermosillo only after the first facelift... PS. Model origin: Germany is pretty disputable. I'd leave this field empty for global cars. The head of the design team is British. -- Last edit: 2007-11-24 20:19:31 |

We could put the EU flag, as I suggested for recent Ford models. I'll make that change some day. ZXW is only for 2005 model or something like that. |

The car was developed for both European and American markets from the outset, so you can't actually claim it's "European". -- Last edit: 2007-11-24 20:31:15 |

At first it was just for Europe. |

Nope, the whole programme started out as a global car one, even more so than the Mondeo/Contour. |

That's not what I read/heard. And the US got the car 1 year later. |

Well, Ford was touting it as a global car long before it even appeared... And yes, US got it one year later, but that's because of the model cycling there. |

Not the first time Ford did the "Global Car" sales pitch, either?? They also promoted the "new" 1981 Ford Escort in the US as such? (And they really weren't a lot alike past some of the body with the Euro version...early US model was a gutless Tin Can on wheels!)Our 1995-2000 Contour/Mystique(Also weren't well thought of here....all I knew that owned one had a lot of trouble with them, got it paid off & traded it off) was also based off the Mondeo.Could actually say the first Ford "Global Car" was the Model T! (Might even be when they got that part right, too! ![]() |

Well, the Focus was clearly designed as a global car - you can see that inside! |

Wagon should be added to the model name. 2000-01 only for movie date so it's an SE Wagon, ZTW didn't exist until 2002. |
