A direct reference to the Dodge Challenger from Vanishing Point that is heavily used in the climactic chase, but subsequently becomes quite damaged The twist presented in the chase is that the Challenger features a stunt woman clinging onto the bonnet whilst it is rammed by the Pursuing Charger, meaning that a specific speed had to be maintained to prevent the protagonist from meeting certain death. |

Notce the car is a "coupe" rather than a hardtop, i.e., it has window frames on the doors. As far as I know, no Challenger had window frames. These were presumably welded in because the script called for them (Zoe has to hang from belts tied to them when she plays "masthead"). |

I just watched this movie and the game being played (with the girl on the hood) is called "ship's mast" in the movie. |

That particular challenger is the challenger "440 magnum" 375 hp the challenger from the movie vanishing point was the challenger r/t 383 cubic inches and 335 hp |

Yes and no. The Challenger here and the Challenger in the original Vanishing Point are both 440-MAGNUMS. However, there is a 383-MAGNUM used in a few scenes in VP. The stupid part about the Challenger in DP is that it is shown to have a 4-point rollbar throughout the chase...so if they needed someplace to strap the belts to for the mast stunt, why not install a 6-point cage??? The window frames looked idiotic. |

It's never mentioned what happens to their porn star friend they left with the rapist truck driver from Kill Bill as collateral for the Challenger they destroy. -- Last edit: 2011-07-29 23:39:24 |

No R/T badges? non stock exaust in one picture, and window posts? How stupid.... I'd say it's a non R/T with scooped hood added for this movie. the original Vanishing Point was a real R/T -- Last edit: 2013-04-05 17:35:29 |

Is it a replica or not? |

Tony has the likely answer to Bowser's question. |
◊ 2014-03-19 14:05 |
He just said that it wasn't a R/T version.. |

If you mean a replica of a 1970 Challenger, then no: it is common and cheap enough to use a real one, no need of making a replica. |

A non- R/T made up to look like a R/T. |

Zoe Bell did say that original version of Vanishing Point was a classic as well as the car itself. |
