With the F-suffix reg. ( from August 1967 to July 1968 ) I would say 1968, because its sales only started that year. |

Fascinating! This early, with ventilated wheels and no front quarterlights, it must be pre-production or deluxe car which has had the single rectangular headlamps converted to twin round headlamps (as they all had). |

I wouldn't have thought so. They only made 9,992 of them, and stopped making them in 1971. |

They rusted badly and many of them died in banger racing events. Nobody really liked them at the time. |

3-Litre was thirsty, not very fast at this class, rather cheap looking inside, too much similar to Landcrab, not roomier than Maxi and stroke by bad marketing. However rode smoothly & stable. Very comfortable "mile eater". |

This episode was filmed in early January 1969, so the car is unlikely to be a 1969, especially given the plate. More likely to be a pre-production 1968 car with the headlight conversion, as others have already mentioned. |

RUE xxxF plates only issued July 68. 3-litre announced Oct 67, but production delayed until Jan 68. This car does not have front quarterlights and has hubcaps instead of full wheel covers, so is a "pre-deluxe" - 962 were built until Oct 68 revamp as Deluxe. "Revisions were: scrunchie door pockets instead of hard pockets, a larger steering wheel, cloth headlining replaced the previous vinyl, larger more comfortable seats with armrests finished in ICI Ambler replaced the leather seats, more luxurious carpets, higher final drive gearing, solid road wheels replaced the previous vented type and the chrome hubcaps were replaced by stainless steel items, front quarter lights and larger wood door cappings all gave a more upmarket feel to the car." from here - excellent 3-Litre website, well worth exploring. |
