Why GTX rather than Belvedere? |

Didn't the Belvedere lack the stripe? |

"my HEMI!!!" -- Joe Dirt this car is really only shown in a couple scenes in the movie...but it blows the doors off of Kid Rock's GM, which is enough for me ![]() |

David Spade must like GTX's with cragar wheels, same as car in Tommy boy. |

This car is improperly referred to as a "competition orange Hemi Road Runner" when he first sees the car. The RoadRunner wouldn't come out until the next year, 1968. This is a 1967 Belvedere GTX. |

The hood stripes are the style used on the 1969 Road Runner...I guess in an feeble attempt to pass it off as the latter car. |

I was thinking the same thing except my thought was he must have a thing for GTX's. or it could just be an extra from Tommy Boy they repainted. |

If you look at both cars from joe dirt & tommy boy they have the same wheels and brand of tires! |

I made a video collage of all the scenes with the 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX convertible from Joe Dirt and Tommy Boy. Enjoy. Joe Dirt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEgqH_GRjSw Tommy Boy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U05y06ikKbI |

I am thinking it is the same car in Joe Dirt, there are too many similarities. I also believe the GTX was actually a clone made from a Belvedere or Satellite. I say this because it is missing a few options you would expect to see standard on a GTX (Mopar experts, please advise): 1) 120mph speedometer gauge - see pic (GTX had a standard 150mph speedometer gauge) 2) Column shift (console shift standard on GTX?) 3) Missing chrome brake light bezel (standard on GTX), however these could have been removed. 4) Missing chrome wheel-well trim (pretty sure standard on GTX), however these could have been removed. 5) Bench seat up front (not sure if GTX had standard buckets or not) 6) No competition gas cap and bezel (standard on GTX) Anyone spot anything else? -- Last edit: 2013-04-18 04:19:53 (Sandie) |

^I agree, not a real GTX. Other standard GTX features included chrome "pit-stop" gas cap and chromed duel exhaust tips. The third thumbnail clearly illustrates their absence here. Bucket seats were standard on Satellite and GTX, so this one with its front bench would have to be a Belvedere II. |

On the left, a 1966 Ford (Galaxie 500 XL or LTD) and a 1966 Chrysler (Newport or New Yorker) |
