I think this is one of the better chases on film, not so much from the driving quality, but just in that it was one involving "die Ente" (the Duck), which many look upon as not a serious car..

The car in the film was fitted with the flat-4 engine from a Citroën GS for slightly more power. One of the many limited production series of 2CV in the 1980s was a series of "2CV James Bond" vehicles fitted with the standard flat-2 engine, painted in yellow with '007' on the front doors and fake bullet holes. This car was also popular in miniature, from Corgi Toys.

The prep crew didn't do too good a job on that as moviegoers could easily discern the modifications to the cars' structure in the scene where it was put up on its wheels again by the villagers after it toppled when they had to evade the oncoming bus. Adding that steel roll cage certainly hasn't helped the power-to-weight ratio at all
