Why didn't they use a 508?

I’m guessing they’re going to reveal the 2019 model in the film?

Archive pictures of the previous movies, shown while they talk about the story of the taxi:

As they mix all the models like if they were the same car, I wonder why they kept that old 407 instead of using a 508 indeed... Maybe they didn't want to use a model in the end of its life, and were not yet ready to use the new one.

Good reason is they made this movie last year, while new 508 launched this year. Also PSA isn't someone like Mopar who prefer to reveal new cars in films

Previous films of the series had Peugeot product placement whilst this one (by a clear lack of newish PSA cars) doesn't.

The 406 was so much better. The 407 is not ugly but the typical "Taxxi" body kit looks awful on it, on the other side the ugliest old 508 would have been even worst ,maybe the ugliest sedan ever made by Peugeot but, at the contrary, the new 508 is beautiful (although the rear end remind of the Lexus IS), it should have been the new 508 to get taken for the role imho.

The 406 can also been seen in the movie. It is parked in the garage under a blanket but the Taxi sign is clearly been seen. I will try to get a screenshot.

That's the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG the girl later uses. The front end looks completely different to a 406 and you can also make out the grille of the C-Class pretty well.

c2006 Peugeot 407
Chassis no. VF36DRHRJ21562580
• Screen-used section of the Peugeot 407 taxi featured in Taxi 5 (2018)
• Used in the final "boat jump" sequence, fitted with deployable wing panels
• Built by the film's special-effects team as a purpose-made stunt and visual-effects vehicle
• Retains original production fittings, paint, and film rigging points
• Acquired by Movie Cars Central from La Cité du Cinéma, France, following production

This Peugeot 407 represents one of the most recognisable effects vehicles from the French action-comedy Taxi 5 (2018). Constructed as a special-effects "part car", it formed the upper body of the hero taxi used in the spectacular final chase, culminating in the jump that lands the vehicle on a boat.
Outfitted with functional wing mechanisms for filming, the car was engineered by the production's stunt and SFX departments for close-up and composite shots. It retains its original white paint, production hardware, and distinctive aerodynamic appendages, preserving the integrity of the on-screen design.
Following filming, the car was displayed at La Cité du Cinéma in Saint-Denis before being acquired by Movie Cars Central, where it remains preserved as a tangible piece of one of France's most popular car-chase franchises.
Offered with a bill of sale, this is a genuine movie prop and is not intended for road use.

A replica of the movie car, made with remaining parts from Taxi 4 and Taxi 5 was sold for 53 750 €

Quote 2006 Peugeot 407 V6
Chassis no. VF36DXFVJ21515213
• Built by Movie Cars Central as a replica of the hero taxi from Taxi 5 (2018)
• Assembled using original production body kit components from the actual film cars
• Powered by a V6 engine with automatic transmission
• Finished in white with the full Taxi 5 wide-body kit and aerodynamic spoilers
• Participant in the 2019 Gumball 3000 Rally

This 2006 Peugeot 407 V6 was built by Movie Cars Central as an exceptionally faithful recreation of the hero car from Taxi 5 (2018). The replica incorporates original body kit elements sourced directly from the film's production vehicles, including widened fenders, bespoke front and rear bumpers, and aerodynamic appendages that define the modern evolution of the franchise's iconic Marseille taxi.
Powered by Peugeot's 3.0-litre V6 engine and finished in bright white, this example remains largely original beneath its custom bodywork and remains fully drivable. In fact, in 2019, the car participated in the renowned Gumball 3000 Rally, demonstrating both its reliability and showmanship.
Offered with its French title and showing fewer than 40,000 kilometres from new, this Peugeot 407 V6 represents one of only a handful of faithful replicas of the famous second series Taxi movie car. Requiring servicing prior to returning to road use, it stands as a unique and usable tribute to one of France's most beloved cinematic icons.
