![]() 1981 made-for-TV drama film about the 1970 Kent State University student protests of the US government extending the Vietnam War into Cambodia, protests which escalated to the point that the National Guard had to be called in, culminating in the appalling mass-shooting of a group of unarmed yet aggressive protesters by National Guards-"men", leaving four students dead and nine wounded. While none of the National Guards-"men" faced criminal charges, the shooting became a major news story and lead to drastically-increased opposition to the Vietnam War, including millions of students walking out and protesting and public opinion shifting massively in favor of ending the war. The fallout of Kent State resulted in President Nixon pulling US Troops out of Cambodia. Was not filmed at the real Kent State University, as the administration would not allow the movie to be filmed there. Instead, this movie was filmed at Gadsden State Junior College in Alabama as it still looked almost identical to Kent State. Set from April 30th to May 4th, 1970 Airdate: February 8th, 1981 |
