Not sure how many cult movie goers are part of IMCDB, but I've just stumbled upon a rare, if not overlooked, British horror film with Equalizer star Edward Woodward. It's mainly known for it's alarming opening and it's tense accident sequence.

I watched some scenes on YT, still not getting what this movie is all about.

@humungus: :hello: horror films might not be of interest to you, but this may be a candidate for an upgrade, I am aware the BFI have recently restored the film so higher quality copies should be available?

^ My only problem with "horror" movies is that that 9 times out of 10 (or is that 99 times out of 100?) they equate bloody and disgusting with scary which is obviously utter bull and indeed of absolutely no interest to me. But when they're willing to rise above that, they can blow me away as well as any other movie. Like "[REC]", which has to be one of the scariest movies ever made (I count my blessings for not having had any idea what it was when I sat down to watch it). Of course, they can also put me to sleep, like "Ringu" did, but I was awake for the scene with the ghost crawling out of the TV, the single most unsettling, freakiest, scariest thing I've ever seen (not counting the daily news). It's been giving me nightmares to this day. There's a similarly outrageous scene in "Cuckoo" of which I will only say that I will never ride my bicycle after dark again, and certainly not in any German Alpine resort...

As for this movie, I have long since forgotten what it is (which is the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it, as then I have no expectations whatever and the movie can take me anywhere without putting me in Graham Chapman's "Get on with it!" mood), but Edward Woodward is always worth seeing so I've had it on my to-see list for a while now. And yes, it's out in HD.

This movie has its fans, but for me it was far too long for what little it has to say, which appears to be: don't have kids, always check the floor of your garage after you take your car out, and don't leave the keys in the ignition of a car you're servicing. I'm also sure Rod Serling would've told the same story in half an hour.

Original film elements are apparently lost (suspicion: Ford probably had them destroyed - the movie shows their products kill people!), so upgraded to whatever it was they used to blow up to 1080p. Quality is little better than a cheap dvd, but still a significant improvement on what used to be. Added some stuff.

bonus dark and mini Mini that's actually mentioned in the dialog but never used or properly seen:
