I always wondered why they did that. In Murray Leinster's novel, his name is Drake (no first name given); Brown is the name of the pilot of the R4D Skytrain (he's called "Miller" in the movie). Where did you get better pics? Mine were from the film's only DVD release to date that I'm aware of, and it's of quite crappy quality. They're both R4D Skytrains. Well, the one without livery may be a regular C-47, but yeah it is sloppy. http://impdb.org/index.php?title=The_Navy_vs._the_Night_Monsters ![]() -- Last edit: 2012-07-04 21:52:47 |

The plane in the actual crash landing stock footage isn't a DC-3 or an R4D - it's a Curtiss C-46. Maybe you could add that one as well? |

Added. Thanks. Also, I think there are some jet fighters at the end. |

Sorry, but not Curtiss-Wright C-46 Commando at all, it's a more common Douglas DC-3. Here is a C-46 ![]() |

My pics are from an original ntsc (American) video tape I had bought in the 80's from a film fair. it was not great quality having scrunched up tape at the beginning and end, but as you can see the rest of the movie was pretty clear & transfered okay onto a dvd disc (and better than your original dvd print, I hope you agree?) Some of these film companys knock out any old print from old video tapes onto dvd (No consideration for quality & No restoration) Unlike company's like Anchor Bay who take pride in tracking down good quality prints for their dvd releases. |

Or Criterion who make good prints themselves if they don't exist. -- Last edit: 2012-07-05 17:29:38 |

And here's the belly landing shot from the movie - definitely C-46. ![]() -- Last edit: 2016-10-03 05:02:52 |
