This movie was based on real-life events surrounding the Van Krevel/Valera family following the murders of shopkeeper David O'Hearn, former lord mayor and suspected pedophile, Frank Arkell committed by Mark Valera in Wollongong, NSW from the 12th to 26th June 1998 and the later murder of Valera's father, Jack Van Krevel committed by Valera's friend, Keith Schreiber at the instance of Valera's sister, Belinda Van Krevel in the early hours of the 18th August 2000. The characters in the film were based on the real people involved: Katerina "Kat" Skinner (portrayed by Emily Barclay) - Based on Belinda Van Krevel, the sister of Mark Valera, had paid Keith Schreiber $2,000 to kill Jack Van Krevel, convicted of her role in the murder in 2001 and sentenced to six years with a non-parole period of three years, released in 2007. Danny Skinner (portrayed by Laurence Breuls) - Based on Mark Van Krevel, known as Mark Valera, Belinda's brother and murderer, was responsible for the murders of shopkeeper David O'Hearn who was bludgeoned, decapitated and mutilated at his home in Albion Park, NSW on the evening of the 12th June 1998 and of former lord mayor and suspected pedophile, Frank Arkell at his granny flat in Wollongong, NSW on the night of the 26th June 1998. -- Last edit: 2026-03-21 19:16:24 |
