@CRAFT372 Zodiac drove a Renault, at least according to Mike Mageau (one of the victims): http://www.zodiackillerfacts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=94&t=762&view=print Interesting post there as well about a 1962 Mercury Comet having the Zodiac symbol. I'm perilously close to cracking this case... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lKCUuyojDI |

Just to let everyone know who is or was a fan of the Zodiac movie and the 1963 corvair. The car now resides in central new york. I bought it a year ago and as previously mentioned, it still runs like a top. Have the original Warner Bros. title which the DMV tried to get me to surrender when I registered. No way and I convinced them to look the other way which is really something for new york state. WB must have painted several hundred coats of lacquer on this vehicle for the night shot because she really shines. |

The Zodiac killer is also believed to responsible for other murders committed before and after the Zodiac attacks, these were: Ray Davis - Oceanside taxi driver, shot twice from the backseat of his 1961 Plymouth Taxi Special in a laneway near the 1900 Block of South Pacific Street in the Saint Malo District at Oceanside, California on the night of the 10th April 1962. After killing Davis, the killer dumped Davis' body in the laneway behind the home of the then former Mayor of Oceanside, Joseph McDonald, and across the street from the then current Mayor, Edwin Sklar, before driving off in Davis' cab and dumping the vehicle 1½ mile north in the same laneway near South Pacific Street's 400 Block. A investigation into the killing revealed that the day before Davis was killed, on the 9th April 1962, Oceanside Police received a phone call from an anonymous male voice that he was to going to commit a "baffling crime". A week after Davis was killed, on the 16th April 1962, the same male caller rang the Oceanside Police again and confessed to killing Davis and then reported that he was going kill a bus driver next. As a result, army personnel from nearby Camp Pendleton were placed on guard duty at various bus stops along Oceanside's isolate bus routes, while some were placed on buses assigned to those routes. Robert Domingos and Linda Edwards - Engaged high school seniors at Lompoc High School, shot in a remote area of Gaviota Beach near Lompoc, California on the afternoon of the 4th June 1963. Both Domingos and Edwards were participating in a high school tradition known as "Seniors Ditch Day" where high school seniors who are close to graduation, can choose to skip school for the day. After killing Domingos and Edwards, the killer then dragged their bodies to a make-shift shack, a short distance from the beach where the killer placed their bodies on top of one another and tried to conceal their bodies by trying to burn down the shack. Their bodies were discovered by a patrol officer who took the report from friends and family of Domingos and Edwards the following day, on the 5th June 1963. Like in the Davis killing, an investigation revealed that two days before Domingos and Edwards were killed, on the 2nd June 1963, a group of teenagers had reported they were fired upon by an unknown sniper in the car park at Gaviota Beach, while shots missed the group and only hit their vehicles, the teenagers stated they couldn't see the sniper, nor the where the shots were coming from. This was confirmed by three teenagers who were camping at Tajiguas Creek, near Gaviota Beach who reported hearing shots being fired, coming from the beach. The detectives at the time had focused on an army veteran and drifter, George Gill who was known to frequent Gaviota Beach, and was also known to carry a .22 calibre rifle for hunting around the area surrounding Gaviota Beach. It was also revealed that Gill had built the shack where the bodies of Domingos and Edwards were found and was reported to be living in the shack prior to the murders and had left the area after the murders. Johnny Ray and Joyce Ann Swindle - Newlywed couple on their honeymoon, shot as they were walking along Ocean Beach in San Diego, California on the afternoon of the 5th February 1964. Johnny Ray and Joyce Ann Swindle were visiting California from Alabama when they shot five times with .22 calibre rifle fired from the cliffs, before the sniper walked up to the couple's bodies and firing one shot each in both Johnny Ray and Joyce Ann's heads. The killer then took Joyce's necklace and both Johnny Ray's wallet and Timex watch. Joyce Ann died almost instantly from the initial shots, while Johnny Ray was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds, hours after the shooting. Cheri Jo Bates - Student at the Riverside Community College, stabbed multiple times as she was trying to start her lime green Volkswagen Beetle on the main campus of Riverside Community College at Riverside, California on the night of the 30th October 1966. Detectives discovered Bates' Beetle parked about 100 yards from where her body was found with the keys in the ignition, a further examination of Bates' Beetle revealed that the ignition wires were pulled loose, leading to the theory that the killer had disabled the vehicle. Enedine Molina and Fermin Rodriguez - Abducted and shot at the Sunol Regional Wilderness near Sunol in Alameda County, California on the night of the 8th June 1967. Like in the killing of Davis, an investigation into the Molina and Rodriguez killings revealed that in the months leading up to their murders, both victims had revealed to family and friends that they were being followed by an unknown male in a "sedan-type" vehicle and were reported to be receiving a series of mysterious phone calls from an unknown male. Rodriguez's wife had also reported to detectives that prior to his murder, Rodriguez had reported that he seen the vehicle that was following both Molina and Rodriguez parked outside their home but she couldn't get a clear view of the driver. Richard Radetich - Police Sergeant with the San Francisco Police Department Traffic Branch, shot as he was writing a ticket through the driver side window of his patrol car in the Lower Haight Ashby section of San Francisco in the early hours of the 19th June 1970. A week after Sergeant Radetich's murder, the killer sent a letter to the Chronicle, claiming that had he "Shot a man, sitting in a parked car with a .38". Ballistics revealed that the weapon used in Sergeant Radetich's murder was a .38 caliber revolver. Donna Lass - Nurse at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel and Casino, disappeared after leaving work at the Sahara Tahoe at Stateline, Nevada near the Nevada-California state border in the early hours of the 6th September 1970. Both Lass' landlord and employer both reported that they received a phone call from an anonymous male voice who falsely claimed that Lass had to leave town to deal with "a family emergency", just hours after Lass had disappeared. Lass' body has never been found. There is belief that the Zodiac Killer is liked to other serial killings that occurred in California during the 1960s and 1970s. -- Last edit: 2025-04-24 06:02:28 |

According to several witnesses, the Zodiac drove a white 1959 to 1960 Chevrolet Impala sedan. In several of the Zodiac killings, witnesses had claimed that had a run in with the Zodiac and his vehicle shortly before he committed his murders, they also described the driver as a male in his late 30s to early 40s with short stocky hair and glasses, same description given by witnesses after the Presidio Heights murder. -- Last edit: 2022-02-20 01:48:36 |
